Seevaram Paarvettai - Sri Varadharaja / Devadhirajan perumal, Kanchipuram

Seevaram Paarvettai,

Every year in the month of Thai during the 3 day of Pongal festival, the utsavar Sri Varadhar of Sri Varadharajar temple of Kanchi will go to Seevaram sthalam in Mena (palanquin) carried by Sri Padham Thangies from Sri Varadharajar temple. This is one among the great utsavam of Sri Varadhar.

Our Visit

We Friends from Thiruvallikeni started at 7:30 pm after Sri Parthasarathy Swami's Purappadu at Thiruvallikeni to have dharshan of Sri Varadharaja Swami on his way Seevaram Paarvettai.

We took our friend's Omni and started, everything was fine until we reached border of Kanchi the moment we stepped in to Kanchi we heard a weird noise coming out from our vehicle we stopped the vehicle twice and every one including me examined the vehicle as if we know everything about it but as it was 9.25pm and we had only 5mins to go to see Sri Varadharaja Swami’s Seevaram Purappadu, we all decided to gather that lets think about it after having Sri Varadharaja Swami’s dharshan.

We started from there and reached the mada veedhi and stopped our vehicle and ran towards temple entrance to have dharshan. Half the way towards temple we found Ghosti and a group of Sri Padham Thangies coming towards us, still with out bothering we ran towards the crowd like a kid running towards mother. We ran into the crowd and had dhurshan of Sri Varadharajar in his palanquin covering his full thirumeni except thirumuga mandalam (Full body except face) with Salvai (Shaall).

We eagerly looked into the palanquin and had dharshan of Sowlabyan Sri Varadharaja Swami and started running along with sri padham thangies.

Felt Low

One of my friend carrying god’s palanquin on his shoulders asked me, why don’t you be a Sri padham Thangy to kanchi Sri Varadharaja peruman too, will you do that kainkaryam (Service) only to Thrivallikeni Sri Parthasarathy temple’s Dieties, I felt very low when he asked me so, where as I was eagerly waiting for a chance to carry Sri Varadharaja Swami’s palanquin. Later after Sri hanuman temple where the Ghosti got over, I went and request the Sri padham Thangies to give me a chance to carry Sri Varadharaja Swami’s palanquin and got a chance too, carried him for only one Km but was very much amazed with Sri Varadharaja Swami’s blessings to get me a chance to do that kainkaryam.

After the last mandabapadi (Stage/halt), we left to home. As we were hungry requested one our Thiruvallikeni friend whose origin is from kanchi and had come for Seevaram Paarvettai to get us some thing to eat, he helped us by getting some upma prepared at 11pm. Thank full to him.
After having hot upma, we went to my friend’s house and slept there.

Next Day

Pushed our self out of bed at 8am after several words and calls from my friend’s mom hitting out ears. Then started at around 8.30 to Chennai Thiruvallikeni with out checking the fault in our car as It was Shankaranthi - Pongal festival and no mechanics were available to help us. On the way after some 20kms, a lady in a bike crossing our car informed us that something wound in shape fell down from our car. We all were left blank, none of us know about a car mechanism to see and judge what is missing but later some how managed to find that it was the silencer connecter when our car started making huge noise.

Some how managed to reach Thiruvallikeni with a car that pulled every one’s eyes towards us by its noise.
